Is It Correct?

Always ask your customers and prospects to confirm their contact information (including their email address). This avoids embarrassing moments and lost opportunities.

Don't just write it down, update your contact database. It is too easy to loose your notes.

Welcome to Marketing Tips from Prospect Communications

Grab a Marketing Opportunity

In these challenging economic times, marketing is important. You must stay in front of your customers and prospects and make sure you are communicating a message that resonates.

Here are seven steps to keep your marketing effective:

  1. Develop a plan and time frame. Decide what you want to get done, when you will get it done and how much you want to spend. Once you develop the plan implement it!
  2. Pick defined targets that can be achieved. Do not go after everything, be specific and focused. Do not set out to achieve more than you can get done and followed up. Remember quality not quantity is the answer.
  3. Be realistic, results take time. Marketing takes time to get results. Although marketing takes time stay light on your feet and learn as you go along.
  4. Communicate early and often. If you have something worthwhile to say then say it. People are always interested in valuable information and contact.
  5. People respond and digest marketing messages in different manners. Use different formats to approach your prospects, email, newsletters, seminars, direct mail, surveys, and be creative.
  6. Make marketing a priority for everyone in the company. Everyone in the company is a sales person for your service or product. Make sure everyone knows your message and how to connect the potential prospect with the next level in the marketing process.
  7. Do not give up! Marketing that is planned, targeted and consistent gets results!

This is a great time to create and implement a marketing plan. Your competitors have pulled back on their marketing leaving you with a great opportunity.

Grab the opportunity!

Personalized Marketing Makes it Relevant and Gets Results

Spending marketing dollars is useless if you are not getting results. Marketing pieces that are personalized increases your return substantially. Studies show that personalized marketing campaigns vary from double the normal return at a basic level to 10-15 times the return for a fully personalized campaign. This great return depends upon the content and its relevancy to the customer. Personalization gets results!

The more you know about a person, the more relevant your message can be. This tuned message increases your ability to grab their attention. Which piece of mail do you open first the “Dear Occupant” or the “Hello Anne” piece of mail? You would read the piece right away if the subject and the images are important to you. A newsletter with images of your next vacation is more engaging than a generic newsletter. If your piece gets read then you are one step closer in building a relationship and making a sale.

So how are uniquely, customized pieces created?
There are a number of techniques to create personalized pieces. For printing, the technique is called variable-data printing (VDP). VDP refers to producing customized pieces with unique text, graphics, images and relevant offers. When your customer receives a direct mail piece, the text, images, and offers of the mailing will speak to their specific wants and needs. This makes every piece individualized and compelling. From our experience, the more you know about your customers the better you can customize the piece and grab their attention. This does require that you have accurate information about your customers. The more information you have the greater the ability to personalize the piece, grab their interest and get a greater return for your investment.

Do I need a lot of personal information?
Many people start personalized campaigns with basic contact information and any other information they might have. For example, if you want to run a sale on horse riding apparel you can create postcards announcing your sale. Every card could be unique, by personalizing the message to the individual, such as Hello “Bill” or “Susan”. If you have more information the postcard could also include images of male or female apparel (depending upon who the card is going to), you could offer unique discounts/coupons to the individual based upon their location or spending habits and you can direct them to their nearest store. In each case, every postcard would be unique and would speak to the customer directly.

Get started
Personalized marketing pieces get results! Where it is possible always look to personalize your message and make it relevant. Try to avoid generic marketing efforts that historically have delivered low returns on investment and with the current economic conditions may produce even lower returns. Prospect Communications has created many personalized campaigns from very simple personalization to very complex. Just recently we created a campaign for a medical instruments company who said the results were “amazing”. Use your marketing dollars wisely, contact Prospect Communications and ask us about launching a personalized campaign for you.
