Creative Ways to Grow Email Lists

Growing your email list can be quite challenging. Having good email addresses and relevant information is critical for your email marketing. The list below contains some creative ways to collect email addresses. Try these techniques and let us know how they work for you.

Events.
If you are holding or participating in an event you have many opportunities to collect email addresses and relevant customer information. Use pre-event mailings (mail and email) to have attendees to register for the event. Have attendees register for prizes. Give attendees a reason to contact you after the event (sign-up for a post-event special).

Email Signatures.
Many email signatures are ignored, but they can be effective at growing your email list. To grow your email list with an email signature you need to make the offer in your signature. This offer needs to standout. It will be the offer (ideally described in more detail on your website) that will be the reason why someone gives you their email address and or forwards the information onto a friend.

Drawings or Surveys.
Hold drawings or surveys on regular basis and make sure the drawing or survey requires the respondents email address. People who complete the survey or register for the drawing become eligible for a prize.

On-line or email only offers.
Create a group/club where email-only discounts or offers are available. The best offers are personalized. If you know what people have purchased in the past, then leverage that information to speak to the recipient with relevant offers.

Referrals and Associations.
Create an incentive for customers, partners and association members to refer prospects to your organization.

Social Media.
Provide links to your email newsletters and opt-in pages using your social media venues – Facebook, Twitter and Linked-in. Greater exposure should result in more interested people and more email addresses.
